Big Eaters!!
We're so thrilled to report that Noah and Sam continue to thrive. Sam is almost back up to his birthweight and Noah is eating better each day too. Generally, they are taking between 30 and 40 cc's every 3 hours and have both had some success at breastfeeding. Many babies at this age can't handle bottle or breast feeding so we're just thrilled. Noah and Sam are living in high style. 24 hour nursing care, cute young female medical students, occupational trainers, dieticians - what a life! Their occupational therapist paid us a visit yesterday and she gave them high marks on their movements and physical coordination so far. (Jon says that he is not surprised - of course our boys are brilliant!) The nurses continue to lower the temperature on their isolettes and the boys are keeping their temperatures up on their own. Eventually they will be weaned into a regular crib for a few days before coming home. Two big "first" milestones yesterday for me: Noah pooped on me (ewww!) and I gave Sam a bath last night. Let's just say that he wasn't too thrilled about it.
We're tired but surviving. A break in Jon's work schedule made the later part of this week much more managable for us and we've gotten a schedule down for visiting. Generally we go in for the 6 and 9 am feedings- (missing DC rush hour traffic!) then return home to rest (and pump and pump and pump for mommy) and head back for the 6 and 9 pm feedings. The schedule is a little different today as we're taking Emily and Zack in this afternoon for the first big brother/sister diaper changes! Stay tuned for pictures of that adventure!
Here are some pictures from the last few days.
